Regional Media Reception, Buckingham Palace



26 March 2025





As part of her role as acting Chair of the NUJ's Welsh Executive Council, Rae was invited to Buckingham Palace to a reception hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla. The event was an opportunity to showcase the work of the NUJ and the importance of local journalism to communities and to democracy more widely.

Oxford University Poetry Society



12 March 2025





With the title Deep Ecology, Shallow Action, this eco-thinking panel at Oxford's Mansfield College in March offered the opportunity to discuss the climate crisis and to debate whether poetry is equal to the task of tackling the challenges we face. Rae was joined by fellow eco poet Riley Faulds and linguistics professor Arran Stibbe, and the event was hosted by Natasha Chawla and Tess Somervell.

Swansea Cultural Institute



7 March 2025





Rae joined a host of Welsh women writers in celebration of International Women's Day 2025. The event took place at the Taliesin theatre and Rae spoke on the poetry panel alongside Akusua Darko, Nia Davies and Natalie Ann Holborow.

Aberystwyth Poetry Festival

Rae is joining a stellar line-up of poets at the Aberystwyth Poetry Festival, as she unveils brand new poems from her forthcoming collection, This Common Uncommon, and discusses how poetry can be an invaluable tool in a campaign.

Llandeilo Literature Festival

As one of the contributors to the Woman's Wales? essay collection, Rae took part in a panel discussion to discuss the impact of political change on the lives of women in Wales. The panel was led by editor Emma Schofield and included fellow-contributor Mari Ellis Dunning, author of Pearl and Bone.

Dewi Padraig Lecture 2023



29 June





Rae was delighted to be asked by the Irish Consulate in Wales to moderate this year's Dewi Padraig lecture as part of the Wales Ireland partnership agreement. The lecture was delivered by Prof Paul O'Leary at Cardiff's Temple of Peace, and focused on the Welsh academic Emyr Estyn Evans and his influential views on Irish landscape and history.

Wales Book of the Year Award - award ceremony

Rae's debut collection, The language of bees, has been shortlisted for the Wales Book of the Year award in the poetry category. The winner will be announced in July.
